President Joe Biden had a short communication for North Korea’s Kim Jong Un”Hello. Period.”he told journalists Sunday in Seoul, before heading to Japan for the alternate leg of his Asia trip which has been overshadowed by fears of a nuclear test by Pyongyang.

Biden is leaving South Korea, after spending two days with recently tagged President Yoon Suk-yeol, with the brace agitating conceivably expanding common military exercises to fight Kim Jong Un’s smallsword-rattling.
His thing to support US leadership across Asia has been dogged by fears the changeable, nuclear-fortified North could conduct a munitions test while Biden is in the region, but on his last day in Seoul, he told journalists he’d a short communication for Kim”Hello. Period.”

He said he was”not concerned”about Pyongyang’s possible munitions test, saying”We’re set for anything North Korea does.”
Beforehand Sunday, Biden met with the president of Hyundai to celebrate a decision by the bus mammoth to invest$5.5 billion in an electric vehicle factory in the southern US state of Georgia.

He’ll also meet US and South Korean colors with Yoon, a schedule that a elderly White House functionary said was suitable to” reflect the truly integrated nature”of the countries’ profitable and military alliance.
Biden has used his visit to call for the popular abettors to consolidate ties, saying at a common press conference with Yoon that Asia was a crucial battlefield in the global” competition between republic and totalism”.

“We talked in some length about the need for us to make this larger than just the United States, Japan, and Korea, but the entire Pacific and the South Pacific and Indo-Pacific. I suppose this is an occasion,”Biden said.
While China is the main US rival in that struggle, Biden illustrated the acute challenge from Russia when he inked a$ 40 billion aid bill late Saturday to help Ukraine fight the irruption by Moscow’s forces.

The bill, passed before by Congress, was flown to Seoul so that Biden could make it law without having to stay for his return to Washington late coming Tuesday.
In Japan, Biden will meet with Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and Emperor Naruhito on Monday ahead of Tuesday’s Quad peak, bringing together the leaders of Australia, India, Japan and the United States.

Also on Monday, Biden will unveil a major new US action for indigenous trade, the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework for Prosperity.

North Korea threat

VLADIVOSTOK, RUSSIA – APRIL 25: (RUSSIA OUT) North Korean Leader Kim Jong-un meets Russian President Vladimir Putin (not pictured) on April 25, 2019 in Vladivostok, Russia. Russian President Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un met on the Pacific port city of Vladivostok on Thursday during their first ever summit. Reports have indicated that Pyongyang’s nuclear programme will be at the top of the list of issues to discuss as the meeting between both leaders came soon after a failed summit between Kim and U.S. President Donald Trump in Hanoi, which ended without an agreement made. Biden and Yoon said in a statement Saturday that” considering the evolving trouble”from North Korea, they” agree to initiate conversations to expand the compass and scale of combined military exercises and training on and around the Korean promontory”.

The possible beefing up of common US-South Korean service exercises comes in response to North Korea’s blitz of warrants- busting munitions tests this time.
Common exercises had been gauged back due to Covid and in order for Biden and Yoon’s forerunners, Donald Trump and Moon Jae- by, to embark on a round of high- profile but eventually unprofitable tactfulness with the North.

In discrepancy to the dovish Moon, Yoon said he and Biden bandied possible” common drills to prepare for a nuclear attack”and called for further politic US means to be stationed to the region.
Any figure-up of forces or expansion of US-South Korea common service exercises would probably outrage Pyongyang, which views the common drills as practices for irruption.

Meanwhile, Biden and Yoon extended an offer of help to Pyongyang, which has lately blazoned it’s in the midst of a Covid-19 outbreak– a rare admission of internal troubles.
The US-South Korea statement said the two chairpersons” express concern over the recent Covid-19 outbreak”and”are willing to work with the transnational community to give backing”to North Korea.

On Sunday, North Korean state media said2.6 million people had been sick with” fever”with 67 deaths– which they claimed was a casualty rate of just0.003 percent, despite an unvaccinated population where malnutrition is wide.
Biden, while adding that he’d not count a meeting with Kim if he were” sincere”, indicated the difficulty of dealing with the changeable oppressor.

“We have offered vaccines, not only to North Korea but to China as well and we are set to do that incontinently,”Biden said at a press conference with Yoon.”We have got no response.”
